I am doing a project for our county using an actor to guide us through "touristy"
areas of our county. These will be distributed on DVD's.
Because of the need to add non HD clips to the video and budget we shot in standard DV.
I am, however, making a 16:9 "poor man's" format for distribution because of the more pleasing look of wide screen.
When rendered in 4:3 letterbox to DVD the picture is slightly sharper than when rendered for wide screen, even when resized on the monitor to match picture area.
I know there are fewer lines of resolution when rendered to ws but there is fewer lines inside the letter boxed image as well.
Is this the "nature of the beast"?
If so, Would it be wise for the premier to make a letter boxed DVD and let the black bars sit outside the projection screen?
