4:49 minute avi files

I have an NTFS 110 GB volume that I am trying to render a DV AVI file. Regardless of the available space, I have rendered independently 3 different avi files of differing lengths and they all render a 4:49 minute avi. All are over 20 minutes.

I have a WINXP system. I have tried to set the loop length to large portions of the AVIs and even to all of it. All to no avial.

One clue: I did make a project previously that MAY have been this length. If so, what do I have to do to change this?

Could be that you don't have enough "scratch disk" space on your hard drive.

Although 110 gig is a lot of free space, you could fill up enough of it with video files (since you've got 3 projects going at once) that it doesn't have enough free space for temp files while MS3 is rendering.

Do you have at least 30 gigs of free space on your hard drive? (That's not a scientific number, since I don't know much about how complicated your projects. Just a very conservative guess for a 20 minute project.)

Also, note that some intensive programs (Photoshop for instance) need their scratch disk space to be in one continuous chunk, so make sure, even if you have enough space, you also defrag before you render.

Oh and of course make sure you're rendering to a NTSC-DV AVI file. An uncompressed AVI can devour disk space with no real benefit!

That would be my guess, too. Have a look in Options / Preferences and see where your temp files are being held.
