450GB for 1 Hour??

I just captured about 1 hour of HDV from my Sony DCR-HC7 and it took about 12GB which is about what I would expect. I need to do color work and other editing on the video so I rendered it using the HDV 1080-60i intermediate template and the file ended up being 452GB, which nearly filled my new 500 GB drive!

Is that normal? Is this the wrong template?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Sounds like you chose uncompressed under that template -

default is usually the Cineform codec - intermediary is a tad larger than a traditional .m2t but should have been close to the 12 - 13 gigs for the hour you had in your initial capture.

Template was correct, codec was not.
