4gb Rendering limit help!

I want to render my project which i have worked on for abour a week now but as I do it only reaches about 50 % and stops at exactly 3.99 gb every time. I have FAT32 which i heard was the problem but can I convert it to NTFS _WITHOUT_ making any changes to the files that i have so i won't have to do it all over again because this is one hell of a time-taking project.
So can I convert my filesystem to NTFS and after that just run vegas video 4.0 and render, render, render without ANY problems?

//THX for answers

For the time beling... why don't you render it in "regions" so that each part is less than 4GB? You can still get the Print-to-tape process to output your multiple files without any gap... if that is what you ultimately need to do.

I have not done a FAT32->NTFS conversion... so I am not certain of the dangers of doing this to existing data on the drive.

If you use Partition Magic you can convert the file system without losing data. HOWEVER, it is still advisable to back up your files first, unless you can recreate them from somewhere else in the event that it all goes horribly wrong (e.g. you could have a power interruption in the middle of the conversion).

After the conversion, i.e. when you are using NTFS, you will be able to render as big a file as you want (it is not unlimited but the limit is very high).

You didn't say what OS you are using, but to be clear, if you are using Win98-ME, you can only use Fat32.

If you are using XP, then you can use either Fat32 or NTFS.

If AVI will split it into multiple 4GB sections. However, if it is Mpeg 2 you have reached the limit. See my post:
