4th of July video tips?

I've never had good luck with fireworks video, I don't have the best camcorder in the world but I'd like to get the best I can. (it's a Sony HDR-CX12)

I'll be on Long Island at the Grucci fireworks in Brookhaven, heard they put on quite the show and wanted to make the best of it.
