I'm just starting to get into this myself; I use an original Layla with an M-Audio LX-4 5.1 powered monitor setup.

I am doing some experimentation with 5.1 surround mixing. I wanted a good representation of what an internet audience may be listening on. So I bought the Logitech® Z-5500 Digital speaker system. It is quite remarkable what this company has accomplished for the price. I am still trying to find the best positioning for the speakers. Clearly you have to place your ears in a sweet spot to benefit from the image spread. Interestingly I have been shopping for a surround system with my brother in law for his place. I have not heard a better speaker set-up at twice the price that sounds as good as this set up.

Cheers.
