5.1 surround issues

I've shot a number of videos with a Sony HD Handycam in 5.1 surround mode. I've then rendered those movies in Vegas Studio to 5.1 surround files. But when I pull up the files in DVD Architect Pro, the audio appears to be heavily balanced to the RIGHT...I think it has something to do with where the audio is hidden in the stereo files (with a decoder perhaps later pulling up the 5.1 mix???). Anyway, when I burn my DVD Architect project, all of my audio files have the majority of the sound coming out of the right-hand speaker. What is the best way for me to be able to play this on my surround system (once it's burned to a bluray), and have the audio "balanced," in other words, equal to the left and the right?

Are your Vegas properties stereo or 5.1? Vegas has a bug (or "undesirable feature") in the way it mixes 5.1 down to stereo. If Vegas and DVDA are both set to 5.1 and you create a 5.1 disc then all should be well.

(Response duplicated in VMS forum)

This is a known bug in the AC3 Studio encoder. Sony has known about it for years, and has never responded to repeated support requests to fix it. The audio preview in DVD Architect is stereo, and the bug only shows up with the AC3 Studio encoder.

If you have DVD Architect Pro, then you must have Sony Vegas Pro, correct?
Use the Dolby Digital Pro AC3 encoder, and all should be well.

There is a separate set of recommendations for getting WYHIWYG in DD Pro, that can be found here:
