Vegas only supports Surround DX plugins. VST surround plugins are not supported.

It should not crash, but it will not work.

Is there any sort of wrapper that would work, perhaps something turns a VST into a DX? I've heard of VST to RTAS and wonder if there's anything like that out there for VST to DX...

There are many VST to DX wrappers. I don't know of any that wrap up a multichannel specific VST into a DX that supports multichannel.

The only way to find out is to try some of them. Most of them have demo versions available.

Why'd he say that? Also... 5.1 vst support a possibility?

Most people seem to think that VST is better than DX is there a big difference? etc...

Yes there is. It is trivial. We wrote it and Cakewalk also supports it.

Have them contact me if you talk with them again.

Better is subjective.
VST is ubiquitous. DX is legacy.
