5.1 VST Crash -- Minnetonka Surcode Prologic II cchoy wrote on 12/5/2007, 8:10 AM Vegas 7.0 and 8.0 crash when I try to use the VST plugin SurCode by Minnetonka Audio to try to change 5.1 to a ProLogic II file. I can put the plugin on a stereo track, but the surround Master track won't let me put it on. Instead, Vegas crashes. Any ideas? Back to post
Comments pwppch wrote on 12/6/2007, 1:18 PM Vegas only supports Surround DX plugins. VST surround plugins are not supported. It should not crash, but it will not work. Peter cchoy wrote on 12/7/2007, 12:56 PM Is there any sort of wrapper that would work, perhaps something turns a VST into a DX? I've heard of VST to RTAS and wonder if there's anything like that out there for VST to DX... pwppch wrote on 12/7/2007, 3:14 PM There are many VST to DX wrappers. I don't know of any that wrap up a multichannel specific VST into a DX that supports multichannel. The only way to find out is to try some of them. Most of them have demo versions available. Peter cchoy wrote on 12/18/2007, 8:17 AM Got this message from the guys at Minnetonka when I asked for a DX version of a surround VST plugin: ========= No we can't , there really isn't a standard 5.1 spec for DX!!! ========= Why'd he say that? Also... 5.1 vst support a possibility? Most people seem to think that VST is better than DX is there a big difference? etc... -C pwppch wrote on 12/18/2007, 12:41 PM Yes there is. It is trivial. We wrote it and Cakewalk also supports it. Have them contact me if you talk with them again. Better is subjective. VST is ubiquitous. DX is legacy. Peter 1
