Why would do that to your audience! Even Lawrence of Arabia didn't run that long!

That said, a BluRay disc holds about 2 hours of video. A dual-layer BluRay holds about 4 hours. You can squeeze a bit more on and the program will automatically reduce the quality level to fit it -- but 3x as much as the disc is designed to hold isn't likely going to work.

Besides --
Why would you do that to your audience. ;)

the project is not in HD.... the request is to have only one disc instead of 4 regular DVDs with chapters.... .... I said I would ask if VMS 11 would be able to do this on blu ray....

It's theoretically possible -- though I can't guarantee your BluRay player would recognize it as a DVD. (A DVD player would definitely NOT be able to play the disc.)

To do it, go to File/Properties. Set Disc Format to BluRay, set Resolution to 720x480, set Bit Rate to 8.000 and set Audio Format to PCM Stereo. (Also make sure your Aspect Ratio matches your video's format: 4:3 or 16:9.)

Be sure to let us know how it turns out, in case the question comes up again.

There is no need to author it as a DVD -- SD NTSCi and PALi are included as part of the Blu Ray spec. You author it as a BD and play it as a BD, simple as that.

You could easily fit ten hours of SD movies on a BD25 disc. They will not play in a standard DVD player.
