I just installed 7.0d. No problems. I haven't a clue what's in it. Seems benign so far.

The list of changes in the previous reply can be found here:

Looks like just a few bugfixes, no new features. The way I read it, if 7.0c is not crashing on you, then 7.0d isn't going to give you anything new.

I like these updates, most software companies don't have the attention to detail and the desire to deliver the highest quality product

Thanks Sony :-)

I love the way Vegas notifies you automatically when there's an update!

Hopefully we won't have to wait for 7e to fix any quirks that d introduces.

That little mpeg/external preview bug has been driving me nuts. I've tested 7d on two machines and it solved the problem, you guys totally ROCK!!!!!

After installing 7D will we have to re-install Cineform again?

Who cares!?

Listen... I'm just moving over from Liquid... can't remember the last patch I got from them. I have had Liquid 7 for a WHOLE YEAR and STILL can't fully use it.

It's REFRESHING to see that the same is NOT happening here!

Precisely what is meant by this?

Thanks.

Personally, I wish Sony had waited until Vista was released before they put out an update as V7d still causes a run32.fll error when starting Vegas up. Hopefully like past "e" updates, we will get some new features (hint BD/HD DVD, high profile AVC, etc...) but I doubt it. Also, wasnt "e" like the last update for V5/6? Surely Sony is not prepping V8 for NAB are they? Kind of close between releases. But if they are going to offer Next gen authoring, they have to do it sooner than later so NAB would be a good place not be left in the dust with Adobe and Avid releasing their solutions at NAB.

The performance slowdown during playback that I experienced with version C has been fixed. I am very pleased thus far.
fldave wrote on 1/19/2007, 6:56 PM
I read somewhere that Vegas will support AVCHD "in the spring".

Hopefully that will be "e" update, along with a major DVDA4 update (that is still on version "a") so that we can edit and burn BD, HD-DVD. I would sure hate to pay again for V8 so soon. Didn't V7 come out in August?

It came out in September.

My guess is that Avid DOES have something planned for NAB.... It's the only explination I can think of for their total neglect towards liquid7 and its customers. We have been waiting for a BADLY needed patch for a looooong time (it's why I'm here.... got fedup with waiting). Anyway, Avid Management has been pretty much nonexistant and it's impossible to get any answers from anybody as to what's going on. Soooo.... I do hope Sony is on top of things here... I've sort of taken to this program!

Wow, you're quite the optimist!

On the off-chance that there is a problem with D, I'm pretty certain that we'll have to wait for E, unless there is a letter between "d" and "e" that I don't know about.

Blink,
There is quite a thread on Avid Liquid on DMN...most folks are in the same boat as you. Instability. I have to laugh every time I read Steve Mullen's posts about how Liquid is the best thing since well....clear liquid (water). I have Liquid, and use it on rare occasion when testing products, and have showed it with HD Anywhere. I'll take any PC app before Liquid, not to mention that Liquid is a huge resource hog.
I'll wager that Liquid and Express at some point, end up conjoined somehow.
Express rocks, Liquid not.

Well.... Charlie White did a review on Liquid which angered the Liquid folks to no end..... called it "Frozen in time". He says that the interface is old and tired.... and after using Vegas.... I completely agree!

lol one of the reasons i stopped beta teting liquid was because as soon as someothign was fixed, they broke something else..

then avid took it over and theres really no difference.. its still an app with ALOT of potential, considering the background rendering and realtime conversions/transfers of HD material through component, as well as the supported file types (DVCPro50, uncompressed etc etc), but after they sold of steinberg, i ditched everythign to do with L6...

as For Vegas, well, im sick of asking... and im sick of waiting...

"its still an app with ALOT of potential, considering the background rendering......"

That's the shame of it.... Liquid is a pretty powerful program, but they have let it fall apart. There has been no real updating and upgrading other than adding "bolt on" parts. This has been going on for years. As a result it's in a pretty sad state now. The presets for example.... there's hundreds of them, but they don't come with any animated picons. A vast majority of them don't even have name... just numbers. It's impossible to tell how they work unless you drag them into the transision editor and play them through. This takes time... enough time so that you may as well forget the presets and make your own... so the presets become nothing more than a waste of hard drive space.

The real final straw for me was when I stumbled across yet another bug, and upon a bit of digging, I found out that this bug was a known issue since about version 5.5.... no one has bothered to correct it... just pushed it through. Well... enough of that kind of stuff and you end up with version 7.... so buggy that you can't do anything without 7 different work-arounds up your sleeeve.

"Dude, Vista released over a month ago."

Of course but Sny hasnt even issued a statement as to when Vista will be supported. Right now, not many people consumers even have their hands on Vista thus not requiring an updated version. That all chnages in 10 days when the mass public can and will start buying Vista.
