Are you sure there is nothing on the timeline after the last song? Click the "end" button to move to the end of the timeline. If you end up farther down than your last song then you have some (possibly hard to see) events on the timeline you need to delete.

Nope, Timeline's all clear after last track. Doing the same thing in Sound Forge and CD Architect. I'm using a NEC Dual Layer DVD-RW 2510A - do you think this might be the problem?

I doubt that this is the case, but just to double check:

The end button will only take you to the end of the last event on the timeline. It would be possible to have the final red CD marker beyond the 80 minute mark and Vegas would assume you wanted the blank area of track to be burned as silence on the end of the CD.

I believe you have to also hit "cntrl+end" to goto the very end. Hitting the "end" button alone will just move you to the end of the viewable screen area. If you do a "Cntrl+right arrow", this will make the cursor jumo along markers and CD track IDs. So continously hit "Cntrl+right arrow" and you will eventually move to the last CD track ID index number, which should be where the end of the CD is.
