720 25fps AVHCD source material to DVD as Blu-Ray?

Hi,

I have a project that is shot with Panasonic GH1 in 1280x720, 25fps. I want to render a file that I can then burn to a normal DVD that can be played in a Blu-Ray player.

Is this possible? I've never done an Blu-Ray disc. What template should I use?

My film is only 10min long so it should fit on a 4.6GB dvd ok.

I would really appreaciate any help! Thank you!

Sami

Thanks John! Those link are helpful.

Im still having a hard time figuring out what is the best format to render my project in.

As I said its material from Panasonic GH1, AVCHD 720-25fps. From what I've read Blu Ray doesnt support either 720 nor 25fps.

So what format should I render to? 24p or 50i? Will it hurt if I render and upres it to Full HD? I guess theres no choice for this.

BluRay is interesting standard while there's not 25p.

In this case the best method could be just double the frame rate to 50p. BluRay has 720-50p (not 50i). With Vegas + DVD Architect combination I would render it with Mainconcept Mpeg-2. Sony AVC has still some odd limitations on higher bitrates. If there's enough space, you can use over 30Mbs bitrates with Mainconcept.

I have done only couple of 1080-50i BluRays so I'm not able to give "pixel precise" advices for 720.
