8.0 and 8.1 on same PC

I am finally upgrading my Quad Core to 64bit Vista and want to use Vegas 8.1 64 bit but i also want to have my 8.0c installed in case of problems. Hence lies the problem, when you install 8.1 it is considered an upgrade from 8.0c and do you use the same serial number, and so do I lose the usage of 8.0c or does Sony allow both at the same time.

Weird question but I have never wanted or needed to run both before.

8.1 is a separate program and not an "update" to 8c. They can exist and be used on the same computer. 8c is located in your program files(x86), while 8.1 will (and should) be installed program files.

You will use the serial number that you use for 8c

Install 8.0c first then when you install 8.1 it will ask for any Sony software serial number that you have---Vegas, Forge, Acid, Cinescore, etc.

Most 3rd party pluggins will not work with 8.1

Fraps video does not work with 8.1. I ended up doing nearly everything in 8.0 as a result.
