8.0c: Reversed m2t clip has reversed field order

Vegas 8.0c project with an HDV (m2t) Event (clip), of a tree blowing in the wind. For artistic reasons, the Event was reversed (Event: RightClick > Reverse).

When I blasted the project to Mpeg2 (PAL widescreen) to a DVD and viewed it on a CRT TV, that clip (only) looked juddery. Examining the project and the Event (just now), the field order was specified correctly for HDV, namely Upper Field First (UFF).

The judderiness was found to be removed when either I changed the field order to Lower Field First (LFF) or else I removed the Reverse (e.g. by reversing it a second time). So whenever I reverse an interlaced clip, I need to reverse field order also it seems.

Sounds like a bug to me - I'd expect the clip-reverse operation to compensate for the field order.

Known bug, been around since day one I think. Finally fixed in V9.0c I discovered.

Actually, it was a long-standing bug that was fixed back in version 5 or 6, I think. Apparently it was re-introduced along the way. Back then the rather strange fix was to introduced supersampling (set it to one on the video buss) for the duration of the event. It shouldn't have done anything at all, but it seemed to fix the problem. Don't know if that still works, since I don't have 9.x.

Velocity envelope bug CONFIRMED

This bug was indeed fixed in Vegas 5. The solution back then (before the fix) which I assume will work now is detailed in the above link.

when I reverse a clip with Lower Field First, the subclip is created with Upper Field First and vice versa. I think this is a correct behaviour.
