8.0c - Slow loading projects

Hi,

I've been working with 8.0a since the start of 2 major console game audio projects.
We're talking hundreds of project files.

I upgraded to the latest version of Vegas (8.0c - 260).

When loading projects created with 8.0a into 8.0c I am experiencing very long loading times (in the order of 4 mins or so, regardless of project complexity).

I wondered if this is an issue that anyone else is experiencing and if there is some fix for it?

It's really unbearably slow, both in terms of my own sanity and the project deadlines.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers

Although my projects are not nearly as complex as yours (dvd projects with two cameras and five audio tracks), it is my impression that 8.0c loads them faster than previous versions did because of different handling of the audio peaks.

That being said, my older projects opened slower the first time in 8.0c, because it appeared to be rebuilding all the preview data from the ground up. After that first resave, though, it all seems faster than before.

Perhaps someone with projects more on your order of magnitude can confirm the behavior.

Hi,

This slow loading happens regardless of project complexity.

Even if the project has, say, 2 tracks of 10 seconds each it is still taking several minutes to load.

Something definitely not right there.
I have a very old 1.7 Ghz machine with slow drives, and my most complex projects are ready to edit in under 10 seconds, or about a second if they've been previously loaded.
I bet someone can help you further; not having encountered the situation, I'm at a loss.
