8.0C trimmer back to 8.0B functionality

I like the 8.0c features of the trimmer. But I would like to know if it is possible to make the preview dual purpose (as it was in 8.0b). Now when I have the show video monitor I used the jkl keys to find the place that I wanted to insert. Now the monitor keeps going back to where the cursor is in the timeline. Maybe this is how that it should have worked in the first place, but now I liked how the preview window was dual purpose..play the trimmer=you saw the trimmer until you played the video from somewhere else. Is there some tweak that we can use to keep the focus where we are playing the video?

No one but me seems to want this functionality back? Did I miss a post somewhere? What should I search for?

Mine isn't different from any previous version of vegas, I never changed anything. I don't have any monitor setting changed, I left everything default. I play video in trimmer, I view the trimmer until I click the TL.

Clicking the "Show Video Monitor" icon in the Trimmer should toggle between the Trimmer having its own monitor, and reverting to the old arrangement.

But the preview(video window) goes back to the timeline at the end of playing the trimmer clip.

The functionality that seemed to work great for me with ONE preview window was it stayed active until you clicked in the other one.

Try this. Create a new project with a checkerboard generated media, now go to some media, right click it and open it in trimmer. Now in 8.0c when you play the media in trimmer and stop with the jkl you see the checkerboard on each stop. Previously you would have to click on the timeline to get back to the checkerboard.

I have set my trimmer window to be seperate, and that is working for me, but this change makes it work like all the other editors. I do not know if this is good or bad.

aaaahhhh...... i never noticed that. must be a bug: you use use the mouse to drag/scrub around the trimmer or use the arrow keys, it doesn't do that. I've always used the arrows/scrubbed in the trimmer, never bothered with the jkl.

bug report time! :D

Yes, you're right - like HappyFriar I generally use the mouse a lot in the trimmer, but if I play then pause, I'd like it to stay on that frame.
