9.0 Masking Tool Gone?

I was following the tutorial from:

And his version 7 has a maskign tool that can be used for effects, but I can't find it in the newer versions.

Is it somewhere else now?

Hi,

Vegas Movie Studio has never had freeform masking like this, to my knowledge. The You Tube video was created in Vegas 7.

To achieve the same effect, you could create a mask in an image editing application to knock out a specific shape in your video track.

It never was there. The video you saw was about Sony Vegas 7, not Platinum edition. The Movie Studio and Movie Studio Platinum editions never had masking. You need Vegas Pro for that.

You might be able to pull this trick off with Cookie Cutter, which is in VMS.
