9.0 Render times with Render test HD boost!

xberk wrote on 5/11/2009, 11:29 AM
Running 64 bit Vista on Q6600 standard 2.66 (no overclocking)..4 gigs ram.
John Kline's Rendertest.

NTSC-DV standard .... 8.0c= 1 min 36 sec. .. 9.0= 1 min 38 sec.
HD 1080-60i YUV ..... 8.0c = 8 min 33 sec .. 9.0= 3 min 53 sec.

Running 9.0 64 bit
NTSC-DV standard = 1 min 26 sec.
HD 1080-60i YUV = 3 min flat.

Can anyone else confirm this.

Why would HD get such a boost in render times vs SD ?

"Why would HD get such a boost in render times vs SD ? "

My guess would be optimization. SD has been optimized for a long time, but HD is still relatively new, and it is bound to see some optimization as things go along.

One more reason to go HD and 9.0 . Render speed just doubled.

Is this what everyone is seeing? Doubled !!

I believe render performance doubled is what you mean.

Times halved :)

Right I meant speed doubled, times cut in halve. That's what I'm seeing on the Rendertest.

But I am sure we will hear more about render speeds as time goes on...

My Core i7 (920 overclocked to 3.6 GHz) remained unchanged at 52 sec running 64-bit Vegas 9.0 (6 GB RAM). All cores were running at or near 100%.utilization.

p.s.Rendered this as HDV using the default MPEG2 "HDV 1080-60i" template at the "Best" render setting, as suggested in the original post (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=526098&Replies=386)
