Really depends how much time you want to put into it and if it's going out to tape or DVD. You could make a DVD with the family tree as the menu and links on each branch. Would be much better than on tape, at least the viewer can choose what to watch.

Why not make music videos, interviews with family memebers, important people in her life.

"<grandma name here> i nthe younger years
<grandma name here> and the man of her dreams

That's what i'd do.

I recently downloaded a photomontage of my fathers life to Kelly Chien's video sharing website: http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/textdisp?dcrandall-ed_crandall_intro

It may give you an idea.

Dara,
I've done a few of these too. The best ones for me were the ones that we found very old photos of their younger life and restored them a little (scanned them in and used photoshop), then set them to music. I use a standard format of 8 second stills with a 2 second transition between each (leaves about 5 seconds of picture viewing time). Each picture has pan motion and I vary the transitions. I also make sure the aspect ratio is set to match the output ratio (right click when in Pan/Crop) may use a backdrop for those stills which do not fill the frame. Creating a montage on one still is easy also with track motion or PIP. The pace/tempo is normally slow. Include titles where appropriate. A sample or two is on our site at the following address: http://www.cr-home-videos.com/. Click on sample videos and then view the Grandpa show. Hope this helps.

Did your grandmother come over on the boat? I recently did a musical production called Freedom Bound which dealt with immigrants coming to Ellis Island. There were lots of images on the net, many of high quality. That, combined with the music made for a very moving show.
