A bug or was it me in VP13

I opened a new project in VP13 and inserted a nested veg that I had made previously to get a look at the software using a trial of BCC9. To make a long story short everything worked well in preview. adding new media and EX on another timeline. Not wanting to render the test I closed out the program and elected not to save it. Well the content of the veg is gone. It is nowhere to be found. I called up the veg file on a restart up and it is as blank as the stare of a dead crow after telling me an error occurred and some streams, blah, blah blah. Any explanations or help in trying to retrieve the file would be appreciated. I am going to try to duplicate it to make sure I'm not losing my mind.

I have the veg placeholder as if it saved but the contents are empty. Puzzled?

If you never saved it, then it's gone. No file recovery program can rescue it.

What about the original VEG file before I nested it in a new project?
