Very impressive, awesome job!

I think what makes this piece so successful is the accumulative effect of great camera work (composition, action, and movement) and wonderfully good pacing. It feels confident.

Did you shoot this with the intent of it being "a faster paced edit?"

I especially liked the use of speed ramping. Well done!

You always make me so jealous.

Question: The video looks so smooth, as you ramp between fast and slow motion. Is this just NTSC interlaced 29.97 video on the Vegas timeline, or do you do something else before applying the velocity envelopes? Anything special done when rendering?

Also, did you decide on this departure from your normal approach to weddings because the client asked for it, or because fast motion was the only way to show the nose pick and the bare butt and the other parts of what was obviously a very "lively" party, without it being offensive (which it wasn't)?

Thank you.

Yes and no. Yes I knew it was going to be a fun light hearded piece but didn't do anything in particular to make it condusive to a super fast edit. That whole style came together in post as I was experimenting with different things to try and spruce up some rather lack luster shots.

Many shots I used the velocity envelope in ADDITION to CRTL+Dragging it as short as possible to get the speed to whatever the max Vegas would allow on a single pass.

Thank you kindly John. Nothing special was done in prodution or post to make it as you describe, "smooth". It was shot in 60i at a shutter of 60. Edited in a 60i NTSC (default) timeline.

This piece is not really part of a wedding and will probably reside on a "Special Features" area of the disc. It's an elective option to whatever other package they choose. It is indeed a departure from a majority of the content that makes up the main program. It's a nice addition to bring a little variety to the finished video. Slow, serious, and dramatic is good but is made better if it's complimented with contrasting portions. After all most couples are young, hip, and fun-loving. An entirely serious and heavy video wouldn't necessarily be an accurate representation of all the days events. I also think it'll be an interesting look at how fun their parents were when these people grow older and have kids, and eventually grandkids. I know I would kill to see video of MY parents goofing off and having fun in their 20's. My limited perception of them is so skewed. :)

All in all I've been doing these types of pieces ever since I started wedding videography. I just don't show them as prominently as some of my more serious stuff. I believe I still have the Reservior Dogs Groomsmen Mock up on VegasUsers/Vidshare I have about a dozen different types of these montages in the span of my involvment with wedding/event video production.

Thanks again for the comments.

Not all weddings have a slow pace. These guys were obviously fun and your video totally captured that excitement.
Your work is always way above the bar of excellence. You have shown that you can do anything to a wedding and make it shine. You are definitely the master.
