A few questions...

I just received Screenblast a couple of days ago and have now successfully edited and burned my first movie.

A couple of questions:

1) Shouldn't Sony Screenblast be able to manipulate my Sony DCR-TRV38's camera controls when I go to capture my footage off of my tape? It doesn't seem to work and I have to do it manually.

2) I've signed up for the free 60-day evaluation of the Screeblast site and it really seems to be focused on posting photo albums and canned video albums. Is there somewhere on there where people discuss the actual video editing-- how to get certain effects in Screenblast? Also, are there any top-notch examples of what is possible available for download there or any other place? Is there any place to download people's projects? I'm most interested in interesting titling effects or other transitions, etc., that look professional.

3) [Added on Edit] I seem to have lost synch somehow between audio and video. Is this common? How can I avoid it?

Thanks a bunch. This looks like a great community and I'm looking forward to learning a few things!

1) I don't have that specific model, but yes generally it can control a DV camcorder. It does control my Sony PC-9. There is an option for "Enable DV device control" in the capture options, is this set?

2) There is a fair bit of discussions on techniques on this forum, and some real experts (I'm not one of them!).

3) The audio and video are by default grouped together, so whatever you do to one also impacts the other. But there is a button to "ignore event grouping", and yes you can accidently hit that. If that happens you will get out of sync. I seemed to do it more when I was starting out. All you do is be careful, and I also do frequent saves, so I can easily return to a known point if I find I messed up.

1) Are you using firewire from camcorder to computer? I don't believe that you can control it with USB. I have the Sony DCR-TRV140 and the controls work fine.

2) Don't subscribe to the Sony site, so please picture me shrugging my shoulders with confused look on face.

3) It might be a case of your video not being able to keep up with the audio (or vice-versa) because you have other applications running. Is this only in the preview window, or is the out-of-sync in the final burned movie?

For #2, check out http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/

It's primarly targeted at Vegas users, but a few Movie Studio/VideoFactory folks hang out and post there too. Also, most anything that applies to Vegas probably applies to Movei Studio too.
