A few questions regarding video proxies

Hey folks, just have a few question about proxies:

1) When you create a subclip of a video file which already has a proxy (.sfvp0 file), will the subclip use the proxy as well? Of course that would make sense, I just want to confirm that's how Vegas operates since I use subclips all the time.

2) Say you create a proxy for a video file in one project, then import that same video file into a new project. Will Vegas automatically recognize that proxy (as it would with the .sfk file audio peaks) and use it in the new project? Assuming the preview settings are correct, ie set to "Preview" or "Draft".

3) Proxy files are small but in a large project they could take up quite a bit of space. Is there a way to automatically clean up and delete proxies once you're finished with a project, or would you need to do it manually by searching for .sfvp0 files and deleting them by hand?

I'm running Vegas 15 but as far as I can tell proxies haven't changed all too much after 13, except for 15's ambiguously-worded "swap video files" alternate system for the original right click -> Create Video Proxy system.

1. The proxy is created from the Active Take, whether Source, Subclip, or whatever.

Hmmm... Vegas won't allow me to create a proxy for a subclip, only the original. Still not sure if a proxy for an original will be used by any of its subclips though.

2. No

Bummer, but not too big a deal.

3. Yes. Clean up your project media.

Yes it can be done automatically or yes it has to be done manually? Do you mean use the "Remove unused media" tool will get rid of proxies? Just clarifying.

For #3, yes, use Remove Unused Media.

Yes, once the proxies are generated them would be automatically used in whatever project you'd use the original source files, assumed the appropriate preview setting is selected and the proxy files are still in the same folder as the original source files.

"Still not sure if a proxy for an original will be used by any of its subclips though."

Unfortunately it won't. Subclips won't be referrenced to proxies.
