A few Suggestions

PipelineAudio wrote on 4/27/2000, 6:13 AM
Ok some may remember me as the loudmouth calling for some
"unobtainable" features such as locking envelopes to
events, full dx track fx support, console templates, VST
support, midi fader support(for the envelopes) and
destructive rendering..........

Looks like some of this unobtainable stuff has been
achieved!!!

I havent posted in a while, cuz I thought you guys had
abbandoned Vegas...

BOY was I wrong!!! You guys need a pat on the back for
Vegas Video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know why you guys always gotta be so hush hush about
things, but Im glad to see some of the new features in
there....

BUT, I do have some suggestions....

*** FIRST and very important to me and I think others...the
apply non-real time fx is a step in the right direction,
but how do you preview??? how about a real simple little
suggestion?
on each effect, just a little button, that says"render
selection"?

Ok also, I hope you guys are working on the
"motormix"support, PLEASE make the envelopes controllable,
that would RULE!!!

And I KNOW you dont like this idea, but I dont give a RIP,
give us VST support....I know steinberg blah blah blah, but
too bad!!!
Nuendo gives you dx and vst, and that would be my only
reason to switch, but it is a BIG one....
I HAVE tried to mobilize people to have the pro companies
write for dx instead of vst but they arent doing it, so,
comeon play with the big boys or throw in the towel, and
put my 600 down for nuendo, kiss and make up with
steinberg...

When you select to apply non-real time fx, you are presented with the
normal fx page(s). There is a preview (play) button. There is also a
loop button so that you can hear playback continuously.

If I understand you correctly...the idea of "render selection"
wouldn't work as you have to select/configure the plugin to use the
params that you want.

Sadly, I don't expect S.F. to cave on the VST issue any time soon. In
the meantime, buy the FXpansion VST to DX adapter, version 2.0
(www.fxpansion.com). Only $60, and easily worth every penny, seeing
as how many free VST plugins you can use once it's installed. This
latest version works as a track effect in Vegas! It saves changes
made to the settings of the VST plugin you have loaded. Of course,
you can have multiple instances running as either track effects or
assignable FX sends. I've done entire mixes using only VST effects
running through this adapter with great results.

Just trying to help out, since I know S.F. won't budge on this,
unfortunately. Help out FXpansion for helping us Vegas users out by
buying and supporting their invaluable plug!

Humbly Blushing :(

ok I totally missed it!!!
it is there and works perfectly!
In the past, I never used the preview bus, so of course I had it
routed somewhere in timbuktu, ok...
THANKS A BILLION!!!!
you did it!!!!!

yup, my way would suck, you guys got it figured!!!

BTW, I talk to you and Kelly and Tom H. from time to time, but who
are all the new guys without the SF icon by their names?

Also, is sample accurate sync here yet, or a plan?

COOL!!!
thanks Carl, me and you always seem to be on the same page with this
stuff, nice to see you again, as I have been away for a little bit...

I tried an earlier VST to DX adapter and ditched it because it didnt
save settings, but if this one does than WOO HOO!!!

Now I just need an eight processor system so I can run TL-Audio EQ-1
and Prosoniq Dynasone on every track!!! :)
thanks, Im gonna go to synthony right now and grap that adapter!

Well, SF has almost doubled in size in the past several months so
there are TONS of folks like me who are relatively new to the
company. So you are likely to see LOTS of changes to the 'roster' of
SF folks on the forums.

As for the lack of the icon: There is no silly rule or anything that
makes some people get the icon and others not. It isn't a secret
club or a designation of honor-- it's actually just a technical
issue. However, that small 'bug' in the forums is SO low on the list
of things that need to be done before we move to our grand and
wonderful new lakeside offices that I doubt it will get addressed
anytime soon. Additionally, there is some other stuff going on
internally related to the forums that may affect how the 'icon issue'
is dealt with. I really have no idea if I am allowed to say anything
more specific so, in the interest in keeping my wonderful little job,
I think that I will now shut my trap. : )
