A new sony vegas?

I see that we are up to version 8.0 on sony vegas (I am currently as 6.0) and I want to upgrade but I am just wondering if anyone has heard of a new version coming out soon or if there is no point in waiting (either because 9.0 will be a while before it comes out or 8.0 is fine right now).

So...should I buy right now?

I haven't heard or seen anything talking about a new version(9)... but I would ask - Is there something more that you need than v6 is allowing you to do?

If v6 is doing all that you need it to do then why upgrade/spend the money?
If there's something specific that you need maybe you should search for info regarding it then weigh your options. It may be that what you are needing is NOT in Vegas at all. Therefore you would need to look at other NLE's.

I would start by defining what it is that is truly needed then determining what tool & version best suites my individual situation. Lots of people always WANT the Latest & Greatest but hardly ever NEED it.

NAB is coming up in mid April and this is where they usually announce (or at least offer sneak peeks) of the immediate future, so I would hang on till then.

Vegas is one of the few software products that I always update. No matter how happy I am with the version that I have.
