A plea for help...please, Sony?

Okay, I'm going to add my voice to the rest of those clamoring for help on this issue...

I just added a UAD-1 to my rig...love the plugs. I've recently wiped my machine and started fresh, but I'm encountering the dreaded "CPU Munching" bug when using the plugs with Vegas. It occurs if the UAD-1 card is loaded over 60% CPU capacity, regardless of host CPU load...the HOST CPU utilization then spikes heavily, causing popping & crackling in audio playback. Vegas behaves flawlessly except for this one problem. The problem occurs whether I'm using Classic Wave or ASIO drivers. AFAIK, it ONLY does this with Vegas...

Configuration:

P4 2.8C, HT Enabled
Intel D875PBZ mobo
1GB DDR400 RAM, CL2.5, configured on mobo as dual-channel
nVidia GeForce2 MX/400 AGP 4X video card
WD 40 GB IDE HDD (boot drive + programs)
Maxtor 120 GB SATA HDD (audio files)
Windows XP Pro SP1
M-Audio Delta 1010 + Delta 44 (driver 5.10.00.0036)
Vegas 4.0e

sstillwell,
I'm having exactly the same problems and have tried just about everything with little or no fix. The only thing that seemed to help was to increase the number of buffers in the UAD-1 configuration window from 0 to about 8 or 10.
I'm sure you've heard of the "disable then re-enable" UAD pluging fix for this, but it's lame.
I don't think it's a Vegas issue since people are seeing it in other DX applications.
My personal fix was to buy a second card so that I didn't load one above 60%. It's completely lame, but the only thing that could help me.

Keep emailing UA about it, they are pathetic in their customer support and programming, but some of the plugs are GREAT. I swear it feels like they have to rent out programmer time or something as they never seem to be doing " ongiong testing", just bursts of secret "fixes"

Not a Vegas issue??? I thought that I remembered reading over at the "Unofficial UAD forums" that Vegas is the only app this happens to...at least as of 3.4.

Gahhh...ok. Well, 3.5 is supposed to be out soon, anyway...along with the cheap(er) card...maybe I can have the best of both worlds...a fixed version of the plugs/drivers, Vegas 5 with some kind of fix or accomodation from their side of the issue, AND a second card...mmm...Fairchild...tasty. ;)

As I said, I thought it was a Vegas issue, but I'll drop a line to UA too...

Gotta love them plugs...my jaw just kind of dropped the first time I started twisting the knobs on the Pultec...the combination of an LA2A followed by the Pultec just gives an absolute MONSTER bass sound.

It's not a Vegas only problem, other users have the same problem with other DX platforms.

my way round it was to buy 4 cards - I can run them to around 60% which gives me a comfortable amount of plugins. This is far from ideal however.

I too had crackles when I had a Delta 1010 in my system, serious crackles! I replaced the 1010 with an Echo Layla 24 and the crackles were gone.
