We use Vegas 7 here at work-- at least for now. We've had so many problems that we just might have to switch rather than be kicked in the nuts again.
Our Clerical staff edits videos on 5 high-power computers. The machine is a Dell Precision and has two 2.66 Quad Core processors. They have 4 GB of RAM and are running Windows XP.
J Computer - Vegas crashes during render
M Computer - Vegas hangs during render at 53%, next attempt was 82%, and finally the third render worked.
R Computer - Vegas started crashing while editing a large project (40 minutes)
H Computer - Vegas hangs during render at 0%, then 41%. Making third attempt now. Also, in another project, the computer started crashing while bringing in new clips.
T Computer - Vegas is crashing during editing constantly.
These are all different projects they are working on. The videos they are editing are MPG files made with a Sony DCR-DVD508 CamCorder.
We had gone to Vegas 8, but since it doesn't handle all MPG files and they have to rename the extension as something else according to Sony (how stupid is that?) we went back to Vegas 7. We have been back in Vegas 7 since November and only strated having these issues last week.
