a Sony DVMC-DA2 media converter box. Where?

Please, Please, where can I find a Sony DVMC-DA2 media converter box? I've exhausted every place on the web, searched everywhere and can't find one in stock. I'm told Sony is discontinuing this product, yet there might still be a few on the shelves at some stores. Anybody know where? What is my next best option for converting my old VHS tapes to my Computer and back to VHS if i can't find one. The forums & Sonic Foundry Support are saying this is one of the best set-ups.

Anything else out there work as good as a Generic OHCI 1394 card and a Sony DVMC-DA2 media converter box. maybe dazzle? something else?

B&H Photo-Video in New York City still lists it, although they've raised their price from $300 to $350 (sorry!). This is where i purchased mine, as well as most of the photo equipment i use. They claim it's in stock and ready to ship. If that link doesn't work for you, just go to http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ and search for DVMCDA2

I've got one of these units and it's fantastic! I can only hope that SONY's reason for discontinuing it is to introduce a DVMC-DA3 in it's place.

I still really like the Sony DVMC-DA2, but if you can't find one, or need something that does NTSC and PAL, check out the Canopus ADVC-100. This is a great box, again about $300. Looks cool too!

We have one hooked up to an imac. It is my understanding that there is no replacement coming from Sony because the analog-to-digital/ digital-to-analog features can be handled by passing the signal through a Sony Digital 8 Camcorder.

I got a Director's Cut from PowerR (www.powerr.com) and it works great. There are a few differences, but I like the headphone set (if SF would ever send out audio in the IEEE 1394 device preview it would be even nicer - hint hint) and I like that it has two monitor outs. It can do PAL or NTSC and it even works with copy protected tapes (I needed this since we have a license to use snippets of some videos that have copy inhibiting). So far it works really well and I highly recommend it.
