A 'video CD' ?

I'm trying to put my video on a video CD that 'can be played in some home DVD players'.
When I try to 'make' the video, I get a message that says: Searching for CD devices', then nothing happens after that?
I don't have a DVD burner. It seems I should be able to do this with a CD-RW, right?
Thanks, Jon

What kind of CD burner do you have?

There is not a name on it, just a 'Standard CD-ROM device'.

Labeled as 'LG CD-RW CED 8083B'

Microsoft driver dated 6/8/2000.

It came in my Compaq Presario 5WV280.

So you got me thinking... Today I tried to make a VCD with VideoWave 5, It created a .DPA file just fine, but it would not burn to disk..?? There was an option for this, but I couldn't check it. Then I downloaded Ulead DVD movie factory (demo version). It made a .ixa file, when I get to the step to 'Select CD recorder' I don't have any options. I'm thinking none of these programs are seeing that I have a CD-RW??
I hope you can help, Thanks.

Now I tried VCDEasy, same thing. It said 'no CD recorder found' or something like it.
My ASPI drivers seem to be fine...ver 4.6. ??
Any ideas out there?
Thanks

1.) does your sytem see this CD drive as a drive letter in Windows Explorer?
2.) have you tried to play a CD on it?
3.) does your sytem BIOS shows this drive?
4.) do you see a on screen notification prior to entering the OS during boot?
5.) any hardware conflicts?
6.) have you been able to burn and CD, any format at all from any application?

Your quote:

1.) Yes
2.) Yes
3.) How do I check this?
4.) No, seems fine
5.) None
6.) Burn any CD, yes...EZ CD Creator works fine for burning audio or data CD's.

The four programs I mentioned do not recognize my CD Burner.
I've tried to upgrade my ASPI drivers, but it didn't seem to work.

I've seen some posts from peeps that have a LG burner...and I wonder if that is it? I don't know...I think I need some gas and a lighter.

Thanks for responding, and any ideas?

Jon

FYI:

My problems were solved after installing CDRWIN. That program changed my ASPI driver, and all the above programs worked.

I'm now making VCD's and SVCDs. Adaptec's ASPI's did not work for me.
I got my info from: vcdhelp.com

Thanks to all that replied, Jon
