Technically they don't have too, they aren't the law. I assume you know what they are talking about.
rmack350 wrote on 4/9/2014, 7:05 PM
They should explain it so you know where the problem was. My guess is that someone got their feelings hurt and complained about it.

I do you contact the forum Admin?

edit: Figured this out. Send a PM/email to the ForumAdmin user. The stickies are a quick way to get access to that username.

Maybe someone accidentally clicked on "Report Abuse" on one of your posts?
farss wrote on 4/9/2014, 9:42 PM
I think the "Report Abuse" button disappeared ages ago.

I want to know what you've got to do to get such an email. I'm a bit miffed after all these years and 1,000s of post I've never managed to offend anyone :(

ps. i've just email forum admin for an explanation.

btw harold, no idea what i might have done...that's the problem.

??? It's in every thread posting next to Reply. At least for me it is.

weird, but you know there are a bunch of cry babies in the world these days.
riredale wrote on 4/9/2014, 10:24 PM
The "Report Abuse" link only shows up for users deemed by SCS to have excellent judgement in such matters. I see it on my system, too.
ushere wrote on 4/9/2014, 10:36 PM
great:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

no reason given - i suppose scs mods must have read kafka....
John_Cline wrote on 4/9/2014, 10:42 PM
Heck, just a warning? That's nothing, I've been suspended!
VMP wrote on 4/9/2014, 11:05 PM
I have the 'report abuse' button too :-), but never used it.

farss wrote on 4/9/2014, 11:27 PM
I used to have it, maybe it just atrophied and fell off :)

ushere wrote on 4/10/2014, 12:46 AM
@ jc - did you know why / or were you informed as to why you were suspended?
PeterDuke wrote on 4/10/2014, 12:53 AM
Maybe someone regards no-caps the same as all-caps.
Sunflux wrote on 4/10/2014, 12:57 AM
I took a look through your current posts... I'll bet it's because of this:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?Forum=4&MessageID=890056#890056

"i'm sorry, but that was truly awful footage. i'd be ashamed posting for anyone to see, well certainly not in a professional forum anyway."
John_Cline wrote on 4/10/2014, 1:13 AM
Ushere, I was informed but I already knew what I had done. There was some youngster on the forum that claimed that his videos were great because he hadn't spent years perfecting the craft of editing, he thought he was blazing new trails in video production. The fact was that his videos were horrible and he never stopped acting condescending to the professionals here. The kid was too stupid to realize what he didn't know. I don't suffer fools easily, I had enough and let him have it. Of course, then there were all those times I got into it with "BillyBoy" but I don't remember getting into trouble for those. I've mellowed considerably.
rmack350 wrote on 4/10/2014, 1:19 AM
Yeah, Sunflux is pointing to the post I thought might have done it. I think the OP got tweaked in a sensitive spot and reported it as abuse. But we may never know what really happened.

Serena, in the post above ushere's, was also critical. I wonder if she got a slap on the wrist too.
ushere wrote on 4/10/2014, 2:28 AM
@ sunflux - i think you might have nailed it. i'd forgotten about that post, though i do now remember thinking that i might have been too harsh. then again, having taught video production at every level incl. uni, like jc, i don't suffer fools kindly, nor photographers of any description seeking only complementary criticism.
Serena Steuart wrote on 4/10/2014, 3:17 AM
Ah, not slapped on this occasion. Perhaps my comment was interpreted as strictly about technique, rather than a critique of the originator of the footage. I was banned once by DVINFO without even a note; I couldn't post anymore. However I was able to contact the moderator and learn that I had been supporting a product not advertised on DVinfo; after suitably grovelling I was allowed back.

I was once booted off a forum, but immediately got an invitation to join another forum made up entirely of people booted off the first forum. They wore it like a badge of honour.

So I started my own forum, it was 'triffic, I could post anything I liked.

Nobody else came there though......sad.
