My good deed for today.
MS Platinum 12 : the PC (4 years old, ADM 4 Core, 4G, Nvidia on MB, Win 7 64) turns off while rendering a project. 15 min with mix of sources. Nothing helped : the flags in CFF Explorer were already on, resetting to defaults with Ctrl-Shift - no effect.
So I started the MS. In Task Manager assigned affinity single core to MS process and another single core to the IO process.
Rendering successful.
