? about ADS PYRO API800 enclosure

I'm thinking of buying one of these Firewire hard drive enclosures.

Questions:

1) Any reason to prefer Firewire to USB?

2) Any limit on hard drive size the enclosure will recognize or allow? I've heard some say you can only get up to 137 gig of use from your drive, even if it's much bigger than that, due to some strange limitation or another.

3) Any preference as to what brand of drive you stuff into the enclosure? WD, Seagate, other? Or does it matter?

Firewire is generally preferable to USB, simply because of system resources. USB uses more.

The 137 gig limit is only on very, very old firewire boxes, and won't be a problem on the new boxes. I'm using old IBM, new Seagate, and Western Digital in various boxes with no troubles at all.

I would say that Firewire *and* USB2 capable enclosures are an absolute must IMHO.

Firewire communication can be very unstable in my experience and having the choice to switch to USB2 in case of problem is invaluable (even if Firewire has some technical advantages).
