I've posted this in the AC3 forum..no one home. Sorry for the cross-polination.but I have a tuesday deadline and a hurricane coming

stereo pcm to ac3

I've followed the posts on the ac3 forum and am using 2/0 stereo, -31(to match the pcms volume), 192kbs, unchecked all the input filters and selected none and none (instead of movie standard).

my problem is that when it renders it keeps encoding at 128kbs...how can I get the 192kbs I selected (the default stereo ac3 does give me 192kbs but very low volume.
Thanks

Friday night, so you may not get many answers. I don't know the answer, but this thread might help you:

AC-3 lowered volume

Thanks John ..I have read and gleaned the info from that thread ..that has got me 90% of the way there. For some reason one of the recommended changes possibly is defeating the 192kbs selection. The 128kbs file that I get is matching the wav file but I have room on the disk for 192kbs and would like to use it.

This is probably too late for you. Go to the rendering section of vegas, and then to the 'Save as type' rectangle and choose ac3, then go to the 'custom' button. You can set the kbps here. Just be sure you give the template a name and click the icon to the right of that name to save it. Everytime you make an ac3, you'll have to click on your template name to get those settings again. This should do it.

Thanks TheGR8steve

yes that is exactly what I have done....in my custom template I have selrcted 192kbs and saved all the settings listed above in this new template ..then I do an ac3 render and only get a 128 kbs file. Are there any circumstances that would cause vegas to downgrade my seletion?

I appreciate the reply
