AC3 render issues

First I'd like to thank you all for sharing your knowledge with everyone here.
I'm trying to make a surround music project (audio only) and put it on DVD or CD. After I create a mix and render the file in ac3 I try to put it on CD w/CD Architech 5 but it doesnt see the file; I try nero it doesnt see it either. Is it possible to do audio only for 5.1 to CD/DVD and is it possible to make a DVD-A (Audio) with vegas? If so how?
Thanx.

The last time I did something like this - I made it on DVD, as a video file with a blank video (static black screen).
CD is not traditionally a surround format, although you may make use of the data standard and use an AC3 or mutlchannel wma file for playback on pc only (make a data cd using Nero).

DVD allows multichannel audio, and the easiest method is the blank video. It'll play fine in DVD players as it is a standard format then, as opposed to anything special like a DVD-audio format.
