I searched but couldn't find an answer. I am rendering DV video using the NTSC DVD Architect template, and then rendering the audio using the AC3 stereo 48kHz template. The AC3 render takes much longer (about 2x) than the video MPEG2 render. Is this normal? It doesn't seem right at all.
I've had them run about the same time which also seems odd but it seems to depend on what the Dolby encoder is working on. Silence seems to really slow it down?
The render finally finished this morning. Unfortunately, the AC3 file created was completely corrupt. I put it into DVD Architect and got nothing but a loud buzz.
I am now re-rendering, and it is taking very little time (10% finished in just a few minutes). I was using the March 25, 2003 BatchRenderGUI.js script to create these files. Apparently there was a glitch in the script or in Vegas' use of the script. Next time and AC3 render takes forever, I'll know to stop the render and do it manually.
