AC3 won't render

Had a huge computer crash -
so I reinstalled VV6 (which I never had a problem with before)
and have two new problems -
1 - when I try to "Render As" AC3 - I default to a sales screen asking me to upgrade to surround sound - can't get past it. I close it both by "Close" and by the X box - it won't render.
2 - On opening VV 6I'm getting a "Media Manager MSSQL$Media_Manager does not exist or the current account does not have enough priviledge to manage it" error. I love the media manager - so where did I go wrong? Or (better) how can I fix it (hopefully without having to reinstall the whole program).

And...
Happy New Year to all,
v

It sounds like the install didn't go well. re: AC3, did you previously have DVDA installed as well, and now you don't? If so, you may need to install DVDA too. re: media manager, it sounds like it was installed by a user with Administrator privledges and perhaps the user you're running under now isn't an Admin. If that isn't the case...I don't know what will fix it beyond a reinstall of Vegas - hopefully Vegas and/or DVDA is all you have to reinstall, and not Windows as well.

(edit) You said you had a huge crash and that you reinstalled Vegas - after the crash, did you reformat the drive and reinstall Windows before installing Vegas? If not...often times that's the best thing to do after a crash.
1. Crash
2. Reformat C
3. Install Windows
4. Install Vegas and other apps

1- If you own DVD Architect, install and register it. Then you should be able to render to AC-3 from Vegas 6.

If you installed DVD Architect 1.0, after registering it you'll need to run Start -> Programs -> Sony -> Utilities -> Migration Tools -> Copy Sony Plug-In Licenses from Installed Sonic Foundry Plug-Ins.

RE: sales link on Dolby AC3 render.
I reinstalled Architect 3, but can't register it officially, because I can't find the serial number. So I ran it as a demo and it worked fine.
But I still can't get past the sales link on Dolby AC3.
That didn't work, but I think it's because there are too many residual files left over from pre-System Recover (not format).

So I've uninstalled VV6c and am reinstalled VV6a from the disk.
Am now getting error, "Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine - Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to error logs and setup error logs for more information". Again probably there is junk laying around -

Any help here?
and the Dolby AC3 still won't render.
What an afternoon...

BTW - I know there are "lurkers" out there. Take note of how quick and helpful this Forum is to respond when you've got aggravation. I am calm because I know this problem will get solved (and I'm not on a serious deadline).

EDIT: Found the DVD Architect 3 Serial numbers - registered the program and solved the AC3 sales pitch problem. Thanks

Vic? Have you got Media Manager up and running again? - Grazie

Vic,
As far as your missing serial number is concerned, just click on the "My Account" tab at the top of this page and it should list all of your serial numbers on all of their products.
