Functionally it should be the same, but there are probably restrictions on selling your work.

i thought that only Vegas (non-dvdA) version was available as academic. Where'd you get it? I know a few school personal who'd love a copy of Vegas+DVDA, they just didn't want to pay the price (my school has several academic copies of Adobe Premiere Pro & a site liscence of Pinacle but some prefer Vegas)
