From what I understood, it's kind of an "instant environment" for audio - mic - tracks. It reproduces, for example, an old mic used in the 50's on this vocal track you recorded with a Neumann or Shure mic.
Well, it's an "exagerated" example, but it's what I understood about this.
By the way, I'm surprised : we can actually use those with Vegas?? I thought it was a "Sound Forge only" feature..! O_O
I'd really like to have confirmation about this...
For saywot, the files unzip to a folder within Sound Forge. You'll need it to run Acoustic Modeler though.
Also, check out the Fun with Acoustic Mirror article for some examples of how it can be used.
... so saywot can see the download on the site probably because he got SoundForge installed?
I went on the Downloads sectn. again and can't even see it except if I go the "SoundForge way"...
Aaaaanyway... no big deal. I still don't have Sound Forge, just the Studio edition.
I use Acoustic Mirror a lot. It can be MUCH more realistic sounding than Express Reverb, for example. I have Sound Forge, but I use Acoustic Mirror most often under Vegas.
Also, you can download many free "impulse files" room simulations from the internet. Just Google impulse files. I am using a downloaded file on a project right now that simulates very closely a theatre that I shot in last month.
