Adaptec Duo Connect

I'm in the process of getting rid of my old TI based firewire cards and replace them with combo USB 2.0/ 1394 cards. On another forum someone recommended the Adaptec. The price though is between $60-80.

I know not all cards are created equally, but is it worth it to shell out that kind of money or should I opt for some OEM ALi based card for $25? Any dropped frames from the DuoConnect?

The only thing I'd recommend is to buy one from a place with a good return policy. The adaptec board I tried two years ago didn't work well.

If your 1394 cards work why don't you just buy some USB2.0 cards. It'll be cheaper and if a card dies you don't lose both features. Keep the 1394 cards you have.
