If your Motu doesn't allow 16 ADAT out then you'll have to line up the 2nd set of 8 trks by eye and ear. Its not a big deal: just group the 2nd set and line them up. I've done this several times with ADAT transfers.

Well, according to the MOTU manual, I'm supposed to be able to do sample accurate transfers with any ASIO compatible software. The MOTU does have an ADAT sync connection, but I'm unsure how to get the sync to happen in Vegas. Once I transfer the first 8 tracks, will Vegas automatically sync to the next 8 tracks? *shrug*

Vegas does not support the ASIO sync protocol.

Thanks Peter! :) Any chance that will be implemented in a future version/build of Vegas?

We are always looking at the technologies available and how they impact the user base at large. (Is that vague enought<g>?)

Could anyone suggest some software that will do the ADAT sync?

I'm not sure if this helps but I'm wondering if the Midi clock or Timecode capabilities that Vegas has will drive an Alesis BRC which could then control the ADAT and provide sync. It's been a long time since I've used an ADAT or BRC but that might do it.
(Man I sure don't miss using ADATs, ugh!)

This should work. I have done this with the the JL Cooper DataSync2 instead of a BRC. The only problem is that it is not sample accurate. You can pick up used DataSync2's dirt cheap these days though.

An old opcode studio series will work as well, or one of motu's sync boxes.
By the way, there is an xp driver out there for the old opcode sync boxes, it works with the previous ui for 98 email opcodedriver@x-pressive.nl with a request for the xp driver and they will tell you where to get it. The driver does work, I synced my ADAT through the opcode to my motu 2408 then into vegas about a week ago.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll see what I can figure out.

Hi Looneytunez:

I second the JL cooper datasync method. I use to lock up tracks and trasfer all the time in vegas. ( However, i think the setup also required a PC-to-MIDI Translator or "Translator PC" . But you may not need this using the MOTU).

I even got this to work under that "POS" operating system Win98SE.

Good Luck
