Adding a still PNG fills the screen and cannot resize it down properl

Hi. I have a video and I want to add a watermark (better if this can be as background but that's another thing for now).

My project is 854x480 and my image is 100x100 (also I need it a little smaller). When I add that image to a video track the image (even this 100x100 size) fills the entire preview window.I try then to reduce the size and it is impossible. I need it smaller that the sw allows me. Also I cannot place in the bottom left corner. I can only do this in a square. I am getting frustrated by now.

Any help or idea is really appreciated.

Take a look at the image please

This just after I add the image to the project

Thanks in advance,

Anxo

Drag the dotted pan/crop box out larger. This will reduce the size of the image and also allow you to position it where you want it.

Hi EricLNZ.

I did that but is not enough Apparently I need more and my screen is the limit. That's why I am asking for help.

What is shown in the images is the smallest I can get and the left position I can get (and centered)

What do you get when you turn off Stretch To Fill?

I have more freedom in the pan/crop but the preview shows the image full, not reduced. Also this image is the smallest I get again.

There is a limit to how far you can shrink it but I don't think you've reached that and you should be able to get it in the corner.

What is the pixel size of your image and the pixel size of your project?

You can use Video FX Vegas Deform to reduce the size of an image but then you find you are limited in its pan/crop position and cannot get it near the edge

Lastly the easiest way is probably to use Track Motion to shrink and position your object. But if you want to use the track elsewhere normally you will need to position keyframes.

The project is 854x480 and the image size is 107x100 exactly. My screen is 1920x1080 It's a laptop.
Maybe I am doing something wrong

This is the smallest I can get with your image and project size.

I'll try your settings and see what happens. Thanks.

From the beginning I don't understand why this small image fill the whole space.

I'll let you all know

Hey one thing I notice - right click on the pan/crop box and select Match OUTPUT aspect.

anxo_outon wrote on 4/15/2017, 10:22 PM

Thanks Eric. I'll try later. I am rendering something else now.

There are many reasons why I create Graphic assets to fit the video Frame from the outset. This is one of them.

Exactly. This is what I am doing now. As this is a logo, works. I still don't get why they expand the image to fill the canvas. It's weird.

Well, following the ideas here (thank you for those) I still has a large image (cannot reduce it anymore) nor position it where I need at the proper size. Just either one, not both)

Playing with this I notice that this thing has to do with the dotted circle in the pan/crop window. (the one used to rotate).

Again, Thank you for your help.

Anxo

Filling the whole space is the way it works. The image is expanded until one edge fills the frame. Some editors, I believe, provide an option to place at native resolution. MS doesn't unfortunately but I've just realised if you set the Pan/Crop Position Width and Height to your project size 854x480 then your image is probably being shown at its native size.

Grazie was explaining it's best to create your graphic image in the project video size i.e. 854x480 so it's in the right position and size when imported.

Lastly and OT. Looking at this problem this afternoon has made me realise how difficult, if not impossible, it is to see if buttons are activated in MS14. The black highlighting is almost the same colour as the background. Yuck. Please Magix can we have an option to turn on a decent colour for highlighting buttons. Us consumers don't always work in dark rooms. We use desktops and laptops in ordinary homes, and even outdoors. Dark grey and black may be okay for pros working in controlled environments but surely MS is aimed at consumers not pros?

My daughter told me to do that (Grazie comment) and I was rendering before and worked fine.

Regarding the pan/crop. I didn't reach the desired combination (place/size) unfortunately. I already raised a ticket to see an official position. Let's see.

I agree with you about the colors in the theme. I also comment that days ago and looks we have to wait for some good soul to do that. Also, I don't get why they deleted the original theme.

Here's my example using your figures:

I noticed that there are Pan limit of 500, and then you're kinda stuck. You could use Track Motion, but then you're tying-up a whole track which at best is unnecessary and at worst you get mishaps happening.

So, all-in-all, I prepare ALL my additional graphics EXO Vegas now. One exception: NewBlue Titler Pro!! - This gives me the awesome power/control to use my Graphics as an ASSET within a the Titling package. Which means, as I can Add NBTP as an FX the Logo/Lower Third moves WITH the Event - no need to have an additional track or worry about syncing. Not many people use it this way. And of course you get full positioning, distortion and FX adds too. Of yeah, now you get the option to import Video into your tiling too. This really freaks out the client.

NewBlue Titler PRO is not JUST for Titling!

Just use Track motion instead of Pan/crop, will solve all your described problems. Resizing till zero and placing wherever you want. (by the way: that you're not able to place the logo down left corner with the pan/crop tool is because you have locked vertical movement.)

Grazie wrote on 4/16/2017, 5:49 AM

3P, I still prefer my solution- don't need to tie up a whole TM-ed Track with an Event. This Graphic Event is discreet and done.

3POINT wrote on 4/16/2017, 6:33 AM

Everybody may prefer his own solution. I prefer easy, quick solutions with the tools VMS provided without use of external or third party plugins/software. In VMS14 you have 200 tracks available, so plenty to spend one for a logo.

Thanks. I'll try this Track Motion and review this vertical movement locked.
