Yes. And now I only use DX and avoid VST. I have no idea why, but I need to crack on and make a living.

Too much juggling.

Are you adding a VST to the TRACK, or an Event?

Grazie

I tested both, adding to the track, as well as the audio event itself. Crashes as soon as I click OK..........

No problems here VegasPro11_594/595 with VST, in event, track or master.
Vegas does not support Multichannel VST (i.e. more than 2 channels)
Some VSTs can be a bit touchy working in some hosts - which ones have you tried?

ChristoC, are you running 594/595 on XP? I just read your specs.

No! Still using VP10 on XP, which is my main working brute; have added a Win7 PC to the collection as well... so dabbling with both.

I just tried Stereo Tools in 425 / 64 bit under Win 7 and that works OK.
Looks like it might be a new bug.

All my vst's seem to work fine, just tried to overload the system with daisy chained vst's, no problems. Waves 9 and Nomad Factory plugs.

All mine are IZotope.

I'm using the one called W1Limiter on this page:
http://www.betabugsaudio.com/plugs.php
I don't know exactly what it does, but someone told me to use it, it enhances the sound a lot, really cool little thing.. Do you know of a replacement for it that won't cause Vegas to crash?

Could it be that the VSTs you are loading are themselves faulty ?

Is it all VSTs , or some particular ones (which) ?

All my VSTs work fine in V10 and V11 on my XP and W7 machines.

Hard to say because this is the only VST I use. I can say that it works fine in Move Studio 11 though so I don't think the plugin itself is faulty.. There's so many of these VST plugins available, I wouldn't even know where to start as far as finding one that I can use :-)

....
betabugsaudio ... wtf, does that name tell you anything? ... say no more!

There's a lot of dodgy VSTs out there, written by kids in their bedrooms, probably working OK in one host but untested in the wild.....

I'm wondering if it has something to do with how the VST plug is using the graphics card. The iZotopes plugs that Grazie is having issues with certainly uses a lot of graphics to display realtime spectrum analysis etc. The Stereo Tools that I tried has a very basic interface.

Here's the situation here: VegasPro11_594/595

iZotope RX2 Hum Removal, DeClicker, DeClipper, DeCrackler & DeNoiser all work fine inside both 64b & 32b Vegas.

However
- in 64b Vegas Spectral Repair reports "Not supported in this Host", but does not crash, just doesn't function.
- in 32b Vegas Spectral Repair comes up with a page "Detected Host = Vegas" and a whole bunch of helpful instructions to make it work, which it does.

So far I've only tested the seven SSL Duende VSTs + a whole bunch of known good ones that I've had for years working with Vegas 9 & 10 - so far they all behave same in Vegas 11.
Grazie wrote on 4/12/2012, 10:53 PM
But then again, I can use DX and the standalone iZo RX2 without issue. So, it's a combination of:-

Vegas + Izo VST = FAIL (Hang)

Vegas + Izo DX = PASS

iZotope RX2 Standalone = PASS

Interesting.

Grazie

Do you know of a plugin that I can use in place of that W1Limiter? Maybe from that Izotope company? I don't think it's a bad plugin, it works fine in Movie Studio, and seems to get a lot of accolades on the net too, here's a video:

The Track Compressor included with Vegas works OK as a limiter.
