adding clock to video

sk02 wrote on 8/15/2005, 9:18 AM
Greetings,

I'm working on a training video on which we'd like to show time; like a stopwatch running and stoping from the start to finish of the procedure we're showing.

I can fade in and out, or go back and film procedures and have a clock running somewhere.

But are there other ways to insert or create a running time on a video?
Thanks,
sk02

The VASST site has a Count Up/Down Sports Clock veg that may work for you. You'll need to register (it's free) if you haven't already done so.

I wrote that VEG file. Here's the link:

Yep, you can try that vaast site veg... definitely works, seems like there should be a simpler way, though, and I haven't found it.

Only other thing you might try is finding a clock radio or some other timer you like and just film the thing with your camcorder. Then crop and position on top of your clips as needed.

A microwave clock is my favourite :-)

Greetings,

Thanks. All worthy replies. We have a really cool Fisher Scientific stopwatch I have taped so maybe I'll try the cropping option first.

Did I just say we have a really cool Fisher Scientific stopwatch?

/needs to get out more

Greetings,

Okay, what's the best way to position the cropped clock video in the frame? Must not be looking for the right things in the help files.

Does it have to be analog? There's a Vegas timecode plugin which can be set in several ways.

Greetings,

Probably a newbie request, but how do you do that? I can't decipher the help files.
Kindest regards,

Put the clock clip on a separate track. Click the Track Motion button. Then use the Track Motion controls to resize and/or position the clock. I have a lot of Track Motion info in the first three issues of my newsletters
