Adding files to DVD before burning

Hello,
Well, I've authored, rendered and "prepared" my first DVD. It's a movie of my sons vacation that I plan to distribute to my family members. It also includes about 60 digital pictures at the end. (Although I put these pictures in as part of the movie, not a slideshow)

My question is; I would like to include a folder on the DVD that includes all of the original pictures in .jpg format. It's my way of archiving the pictures. Can I safely add this folder, either on the root of the DVD, or inside the "VIDEO_TS" folder and not screw with the validity of the DVD?

Thanks!

I've had good success adding a new directory at the root. I usually call it "ZPHOTOS" so that it sorts after AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.

I've not recieved any complaints that my disks didn't work in someone's stand alone DVD player.

One quick, *maybe* caution... I've seen some of the newer, cheaper players that look at the disc first to determine content, and can display any ol' jpeg, will display any ol' jpeg it finds. To be safe I'd suggest posting in the DVD forum at DV.com, see what the moderater has to say.

What program do you use to add this new folder?

Do you just use the burn DVD option and DVD-A puts that folder as well onto a DVD?

Or do you use some other program?

I use DVD-A to create the files set on a hard disk. Next I add my directory with pictures to the two default directories using windows explorer. Then I use "Record Now" or "Nero" to copy the updated directory structure to a blank DVD.
