Adding instant replay

This is my first project so everything is going slow. I’ve looked through the book and help section with no luck on this matter. I would like to take my sons soccer video and basically add instant replay after key points in the game. What I have tried so far is to copy a section of video but I really don’t know what to do with it next. How do I paste it back in? I tried putting it over top of my current video but the audio keeps playing in the background and part of the video gets cut out. The other thing that I’m trying to do is make it play in slow motion. Is the best way to do this using stretch function? If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be a great help.

Thanks

Probably the simplest way to do this is to use the Split function. Place the cursor at the point where you want to insert the replay and press S to split the event. You will now have two separate events on the timeline instead of just one. Drag everything to the right of the split farther down to the right to make some room for the replay. Now position the cursor at the beginning of the section you want to repeat and Split again. Click on this small piece and Ctrl-C to copy. Place the cursor at the end of this section and Ctrl-V to paste. You will now have that small section on the timeline twice. Move the remaining video left or right as necessary to have it start when the copy ends.

Using Ctrl-stretch to slow the video down is the easiest way to get slow motion.

You can always select the audio portion of a clip and hit delete to get rid of it. Then, you can insert new audio in its place, like crowd cheering or a voice-over describing the replay, whatever you like. Throw in a cheesey transition on either side and you've got a instant replay just like the pros.
