Adding layers during a live recording session

What's the best way you have found for adding layers (tracks) during a recording session?

Last night I did a recording session of a choir with 4 tracks. First we did the full choir and then went back and did just the guys, altos, etc. To save time setting up the new tracks I selected the tracks and did a "Duplicate Track" which created 4 new tracks and then deleted the events on the new tracks which worked most of the time.

This morning I noticed that some of the tracks I recorded were not on the time line and others were duplicated. It was easy to straighten out with the use count in the Project Media view but I'm curious if anyone has other way to handle new layers during a recording session?

Thanks.

Larry

Yes , I done that 'duplicate' thing before, so that you don't need to set up inputs agains, etc.

The tracks should all have been there, if you had saved when exiting. It should load up to exactly the same state (tracks, clips, position) as when saved, unless some of the media has been removed.
