Just recently did this on a short project....

Add a Video Track, use track motion to shrink it down to a corner, and extend it to the proper length.

Add your logo as you would any title, on a second video track.

Then you can use the Opacity slider on that track to determine how transparent the logo is.

You need the create the logo in software that allows for an Alpha channel or a colored background so you can make everything but the logo transparent.

Thanks Guys.

The only thing I'm not getting, is how to make the background of the logo transparent without affecting the logo?

I'm using Corel Draw to generate the logo and I'm not sure how to export the logo without getting a static background. Is there a specific format I should be using?

Thanks,
Ken

I think .png has the transparency/alpha channel ability.

You should be able to generate a transparent background.

But if all you can make is a solid color, pick a color which isn't in your logo at all. Then, use the chromakey to remove the background. Be sure to make the color and spatial resolution fairly high, though.

Another way is to make the background of your logo black and simply use the "Add" composite mode to the original video.

Just export your logo as a ".png" or ".tga".
Make sure you remove/hide the background layer before exporting...in photoshop you get a chequered BG to signify a transparent BG.
We have some 2d animators here who use Corel, and they manage to send me png/tga files with transparent back grounds.... quicktime also supports alpha maps if the logo is animated.

When importing into Vegas, make sure the alpha blending options are active in the clips properties dialogue.

I don't use Draw but I do all of my photo manipulation in Photopaint and have not had any luck getting my backgrounds to disappear. Even when the checkerboard is showing in PP it still comes out white in Vegas. I now save in PSD format and turn off the background in Photoshop and resave. I'll have to try saving as png or tga right from Photopaint, that would sure save a hassle. has anyone done this from Photopaint? Could it be that the PSD files from Photoshop are coming in to vegas with the Alpha channel already turned on? and the PSD files I'm saving from Phototpaint do not? I'll have to look at that.

Wow, that's awesome. I used that chroma keyer and it worked great.

Thanks for your help everyone. I new to this product and I'm looking forward to learning all the other cool things it can do.

You have to 1) export in a format which carries an alpha channel (like .png; .jpg doesn't), and 2) tell Vegas there's an alpha channel in the clip properties.

All I had to do, was export a .png from Draw and use the eye dropper in the chroma keyer to remove the background. Very simple.
