Adding video effect to clip in trimmer

Hi guys

I thought I read in these forums that you can add a video effect to a clip just about anywhere (ie in the timeline, on the track or in the trimmer).

I've been going through a large project here with 9x 90 minute DVs that as I'm previewing the footage I wanted to added a brightness/contrast filter to the shot if applicable. It doesn't refuse to drop the filter on but I can't see any effect taking place. What am I missing here?

Cheers

And while on the subject of the trimmer - I use ALT5 to go the the media pool and select a clip by double clicking on it to put it in the trimmer. But when the trimmer window appears, the cursor line is always 3/4 of the way through the clip (roughly where my mouse cursor would have been in the media pool window). So rather than playing the clip from the start, it plays from 3/4 of the way through unless I go and select the whol clip then play it. How can I streamline this so that I select the clip in media pool and it plays from the top in the trimmer?

Cheers

You will not see/hear fx when playing back source media files in the trimmer.

Video Fx can be added to:

Media (in the media pool)

Events

Tracks

Video output (accessed in the video preview window)

Thanks for that. I thought I read that we could. I guess I can add in the media pool, check it on the timeline then I know that it'll come in fine after that...

(or I just don't use the dark shots :-)

Cheers
