ADVC-100

Have all of the issues that people were having with this braeakout box been resolved?

Who is using one and what kind of problems have you run into? Would you recommend this product to others?

I'm waiting on some input from some users before I make a decision about purchasing. My wife is watching closely as I build this system - I sure don't want to screw it up!

Thanks for your help.

I would reccomend the product based on my experience. Any problems I faced were associated with the learning curve. The ADVC is a great capture solution--probably the most reliable and highly regarded out there. The ADVC is MUCH, MUCH better than any video capture card solution, such as my ATI All-in-Wonder or my old Matox Rainbow Runner.

I wrote a review about my experiences with the ADVC 100 and the Hollywood Dazzle DV bridge:

Since the time I put the piece together I also upgraded to Windows XP. The unit has only seemed to work better since the upgrade with no problems or limitations with the 4GB file limit size.

If you have a lot of analog material and aren't in a position to upgrade to a digital camcorder, its a very good choice.

Hope this helps. Be happy to answer any questions you have.

I would highly recommend the ADVC-100. I've had only good experiences with mine.

  • 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Driver Version: Studio Driver 452.06

There were a few issues with VidCap, but I think they've been ironed out in the 3.0a update, and if not, 3.0b is in the pipeline. The Vegas Project Manager has one of those on his desk, so I doubt it will have any outstanding issues :)

I have the Sony box on my desk, and like how it works, but it unfortunately discontinued.

I know I must be in the minority, but I've had a lot of problems with mine which I've mentioned in earlier posts. These problems have yet to be resolved -- even after spending hours on the phone with Canopus tech support.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have several hours of Beta SP to work on and need some way to get it into VV.

BlueHawk: You might check out the Promax DAMax+ box if you are pulling footage from betacam. We were showing this unit at NAB and it works well with Vegas3 in our initial tests.

If you do end up purchasing this unit, tell Promax you are using it with Vegas and be sure to send them feedback. They can update the firmware over 1394 if you run into issues.

Tanjy, from your previous posts, I wasn't able to gleam any info except that you had a defective ADVC-100 unit and that you were sending it back...or that you were going to get a Canon ZR.../TRV17.

Please, post more information as this isn't very helpful for resolving your problems.

Thanks!
