Advc-100 cuts out while print to tape ?

Just opened Canopus advc-100, hooked up with a smile then a frown. Need help. I purchased this to capture analog and to convert digital to composite "print to tape" from Vidcap3.0 to my VCR. I liked the idea of not using my camera to convert digital to analog. The camera (GR-DVL120 JVC) works fine when I Print to tape. the ADVC-100 drops out with a black screen at random intervals. Any help will be appreciated. Pentium 4, 1.5ghz, 2-40 gig 7200 ata100, 512SDRAM, VIAchip set P4M266. Unibrain 1394 capture card. Using VV3c. Media drive is slave of master with operating system, DVD recorder second master, CD recorder second slave. IRQ on 11, shared. Tried change IRQ with same results.

strange- if you can print to tape to a camera but not thru the converter, it sounds like a converter problem.

That is what I was thinking. Canopus recommended that I use my camera. Not a great answer. After I'm finished with my project, I'm going to exchange it. Thanks for your response. I never appreciated tech support until now. Great job SonicEPM. Hope to continue a long relationship. Look foward to Vegas 4.0 with possible direct DVD burner support.

I use the ADVC-100 to print-to-tape with no dropouts.
PIII, 866 mHz, ATA-100, 40 gig 7200 RPM (OS), 60 gig 7200 RPM (A/V), Pyro BASIC DV 1394 card, XP-PRO (but formerly on WinME with no problems).
Just so you know.

Thanks for the input. I just freed up an IRQ. Still having the same problem. Tried to reload Texas Instrument 1394 drivers. Same results. Lost all output after playing with different drivers. Tech support from canopus gave me a 3.8mbs data rate. They think my drive may not be have the correct throughput. I don't think they are right. I tried to change the cable so I would have both hard drives as masters. The dvd recorder recommends that it is on a master setup. The cables didn't reach, so back to square one. Think I'll use the camera for external monitor for now. May be find a friend with a different 1394 board and see if I get the same results. Any help would be appreciated.

I was just about to order a ADVC-100, but found an alternative in a TV One dv-2001. I ordered one this afternoon from DVdirect. They said that if I have any problems with it, they'll be happy to exchange it for the ADVC-100 if I want.

I am running on a 2.4gig P4 with 1gig of RAM and a Promise ATA raid controller with Four 80gig WD 7200rpm drives (with 8meg cache) striped as two 160 gig drives. The system has a 100 gig system drive as well.
